Taize1.jpg   Taizé Services at First Baptist Church

Taize2.jpgThe Taizé service at First Baptist Church is a place of safety and hope. We are so glad that you have found this webpage and we hope that you will join us at one of our services, which are held at the First Baptist Church on the fourth Sunday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Our Taizé service includes reflective songs, candlelight and scripture. During the service we use an icon, candles, songs, silence, scripture and prayers to create a sacred space. We invite you to enter into this sacred space and listen for the words that the Spirit is speaking to you. Perhaps these words will come through the music, or the silence or the scripture, but it is our desire that God will meet each person.

If you would like to get involved with making music with the musicians, please contact JP Bierly, Music Ministry Coordinator at First Baptist Church jpbierly@gmail.com. Musicians of all levels of ability are welcome!

There is also an opportunity to become involved with the planning for the Taizé service. We meet on the Tuesday following the Taizé service at 7:00 p.m. Please contact JP Bierly if you would like to be involved in planning jpbierly@gmail.com.

About Taizé Prayer:

The contemplative prayer form that has become known as ‘Taizé Prayer’, takes its name from the Taizé community of France, founded in the early 1940’s by Brother Roger.

Through singing simple chants, the mind is quieted and the heart is opened as the song becomes prayer.

…Nothing is more conducive to a communion with the living God than a meditative common prayer with, as its high point, singing that never ends but continues in the silence of one’s heart when one is alone again. ~Brother Roger of Taizé
