Living the Vision:   Matthew 25 Sign Up

Becoming  a Matthew 25 Church:  On September 8, 2013 the congregation affirmed the vision of First Baptist becoming a Matthew 25 Church.   Based on Matthew 25: 40, we take to heart the words of Jesus: “Whenever you offered kindness/advocacy to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me - you did it to me.”  For these next 3 years we will strive to live into Jesus’ vision.

Within this vision our congregation has identified four areas of focus:  Healthy Community; Hospitality; Volunteer Development; Local Missions.  We are inviting the FBC family to sign up under a focus area where you have particular interest.  The role of each team is to resource the existing teams/committees of the church in a particular area, and in some case create new initiatives.

We hope each team will have approx. 5 – 7 people.  Each team will be chaired by a member of the Renewal Implementing Team (RIT).  The RIT is charged with coordinating, encouraging and helping the congregation implement the vision and focus areas that arose from our church-wide conversation these last six months.

We invite you to sign up as the Spirit leads:

Healthy Community Team:  To be a ‘think tank’ to explore ways of deepening the quality of our communal life at FBC and ways to invite and assimilate new participants.  Team will meet for one year on a monthly basis.

Volunteer Development Team:  To be a ‘think tank’ to explore ways that we at FBC can support and expand our base of volunteers.  We will consider best practices for training, recruiting and supporting volunteers to live out our faith within and beyond the walls of FBC.  Team will meet for one year on a monthly basis.

Hospitality Team:  How do we at FBC provide ‘Christ-like hospitality’ and ensure comfort and safety for the many weekday church, community groups and guests in need?  Team will recruit and train people to be ‘Building Hosts’ during evening, weekend and daytime.  Team will meet for one year on a monthly basis.

Local Missions:  Local missions refer to any opportunity to be of service in the local community.  If you are interested in being involved with existing FBC sponsored local mission projects, or are interesting in initiating new programs, please sign up.

When you are ready to take the next step and sign up for one of these teams, email Donna and she will add your name to the list. fbc@macnet.com
